Our speech and language therapy service can offer second opinions if requested by a PATIENT or anyone involved in the patient's care. This can include second opinions on diagnosis and advice or treatment for patients with speech, language, communication and / eating and drinking needs.
Why would a patient need a second opinion from a speech and language therapist?
A speech and language therapist may be asked for a second opinion for a variety of reasons by the patient or anyone involved in their care. Reasons for needing a second opinion can include:
- Another professional may need more specialist advice regarding a patient's diagnosis or speech, language, communication and / eating and drinking needs.
- A patient may want a second opinion on their diagnosis, advice given or treatment regarding their speech, language, communication and / eating and drinking needs.
- A parent / carer may want a second opinion on a patient's diagnosis, advice given or treatment.
- A second opinion may be required by a court or for other legal reasons.
