Pre-school communication groups
At speech and language therapy we offer pre-school communication groups for pre-school children and their parents / carers. Pre-school communication groups will focus on developing the child's skills in any aspect of communication.
What is a pre-school communication group?
A pre-school communication group is a support group for pre-school children with speech, language and communication difficulties and their parents / carers. We can offer groups for children up to the age of 6 years old. Our speech and language therapists will provide parents / carers and their children with the necessary skills to help the child develop in their speech, language and communication.
Each group will vary in size, content and length of time and will depend on the specific needs of the children and the group as a whole.
Pre-school communication groups can cover many aspects of a child's communication including:
- Speech delays and disorder.
- Language delay and disorder.
- Social communication.
- Early communication skills e.g. attention and listening.
Pre-school communication groups will usually involve one therapist, however for larger groups a second therapist maybe present. Our speech and language therapists are there to support both the child and their parent or carer in communicating more effectively and helping to teach communication skills.
Our pre-school communication groups provide a fun and motivating way of learning communication and language skills, through play, activities and games.
