Consultative role

What will a consultative role involve?

Our speech and language therapists at SLT UK can offer a consultative role as part of the treatment process. A consultative role will focus on giving advice and recommendations to the individual, their carer and other professionals involved in their care.

Unlike one to one and group therapy where the individual receives direct input from the speech and language therapist, a consultative role will focus on providing advice and recommendations for the individual, their carer and others involved in their care.

Following an initial assessment the speech and language therapist will be able to advise or recommend on how to manage the individual’s speech, language or eating and drinking needs. A speech and language therapist will often combine a consultative role with other types of treatment e.g. one to one therapy.
