How can we provide a second opinion?
Our speech and language therapy service offer second opinions if requested by a patient or anyone involved in the patient’s care.
A speech and language therapist may be asked for a second opinion for a variety of reasons by the patient or anyone involved in their care.
Reasons for needing a second opinion can include:
- Another professional may need more specialist advice regarding a patient’s diagnosis of speech, language and communication needs.
- A patient may want a second opinion on their diagnosis, advice given or treatment regarding their speech, language and communication needs.
- A parent or carer may want a second opinion on a patient’s diagnosis, advice given or treatment.
- A second opinion may be required by a court or for other legal reasons.
Our speech and language therapists are highly specialised and will do their best in helping patients or other professionals requiring a second opinion. We will aim to give a second opinion with the best possible outcome for each individual patient.
